Keynote: Andy Miller of Leap Motion and the Sacramento Kings

Andy Miller

Regarded as a mobile expert and visionary entrepreneur, Miller started his first company, WatchPoint Media, out of the famed MIT Media Lab. He went on to found and sell m-Qube and Quattro Wireless to Verisign and Apple, Inc. respectively. At Apple, Andy served as Vice President of Mobile Advertising reporting directly to Steve Jobs, overseeing the development of iAd, the mobile advertising network for the iPhone, iPod and iPad.

At Leap MotionTM , Miller is leading the launch of the Leap Motion™ Controller, which provides a revolutionary new way for people to play, create and explore with their computers. Leap Motion's proprietary technology can track the in-air movement of both hands and all 10 fingers with incredible accuracy and no visible latency. The small USB device was voted a Top 10 Gadget in 2013 by Time Magazine. Since its launch six months ago, over 100,000 developers have downloaded the Leap SDK to build applications on the Leap platform.

Miller is also playing a central role in advancing the NBA 3.0 concept advocated by Sacramento Kings owner Vivek Ranadive, which involves establishing basketball as the sport of the 21st century through technology, globalization and community service. The Kings' NBA 3.0 philosophy includes fully integrating the latest technologies into the organization and its basketball operations, as well as building the most state-of-the-art arena in the world.

Succeeding in Sacramento

Every year, TechEdge invites the leaders of local tech companies to share their company's own inspiring story of success. From pre-revenue to post-profitability, and from self-funded to kick-started to VC-invested -- the pathways to success are as varied as the markets these companies serve.  At the 2014 TechEdge Celebration, we'll hear from three motivating CEO speakers, each of whose company is following a different path to success and is at a different stage of development – truly something to speak to everyone in our TechEdge audience!
