Bios:

Bill Halldin, President, Halldin Public Relations
Bill brings to clients a 25-year background in corporate and government public relations as well as journalism. He specializes in media relations and social media, helping clients manage everything from crisis communications to product launches. Bill started Halldin Public Relations in 1999 after working on Wall Street and advising elected government officials. His firm has been recognized as one of the fastest-growing companies in the region four times and, in 2010, was recognized as the Sacramento Public Relations Professional of the Year. His clients include Merrill Lynch, Intuitive Surgical, USA Properties Fund, Velocity Venture Capital and Drexel University, among others. Bill is an active member of the community, currently serving on the board of directors for the Sacramento Hispanic Chamber of Commerce and as a member of the Sierra College Board of Trustees. He holds a Bachelor’s degree in journalism and a Master’s in Business Administration from Yale University.

Chris Holben, Vice President & Director of Public Relations/Public Affairs, Runyon Saltzman & Einhorn, Inc
Chris manages the agency and public relations team and is responsible for business development, strategic counsel on behalf of existing clients and long-range planning for the agency as a whole. Chris also serves as an adjunct instructor in marketing at Drexel University’s Sacramento Center for Graduate Studies and LeBow College of Business. Chris holds a master’s degree in public policy from the University of Michigan and bachelor’s degrees in international relations and economics from American University.

Josh Morgan, Vice President, Edelman Digital
Josh is a vice president with Edelman Digital, the digital arm of the world’s largest PR firm. His experience spans diverse sectors from startup to Fortune 500 arenas on both client and agency side in B2B and B2C markets. His public affairs experience includes national and regional education issues, public policy and environmental impact. Josh graduated from the University of the Pacific with a BA in Communication, and has been working in PR and digital marketing ever since.

Brett Owens, Co-founder and CEO, Chrometa
Brett Owens is Co-Founder and CEO of Chrometa, a Sacramento based bootstrapped software startup that helps professionals and companies accurately manage and analyze their time for billing and project tracking. Guerilla PR efforts have rewarded Chrometa with prominent features in publications such as Forbes, Read Write Web, The Chicago Tribune, and The Economist. He is a graduate of Cornell University with a degree in Operations Research and Industrial Engineering.

Mary Lynne Vellinga, Business Editor, The Sacramento Bee
Mary Lynne Vellinga has been business editor for The Sacramento Bee since July 2009. A graduate of Calvin College and Northwestern University Medill School of Journalism, Mary Lynee began her journalism career in Marion, Indiana, where she covered labor, workplace and economic development issues. She worked at newspapers in New York and Massachusetts before joining The Sacramento Bee as a staff reporter in 2001. Mary Lynne left The Bee briefly for several months in 2009 to work in the office of state Sen. Fran Pavley. In 2009, she won a Sierra Club award and a Best of the West award for her outstanding reporting on growth issues.
